Salman Bashir, Pakistan’s High Commissioner-designate to India, called on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani at the Prime Minister’s House Thursday prior to his departure to assume his new diplomatic assignment.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance which the present government attaches to Pakistan-India relations.
Mr Gilani expressed his strong desire to build further momentum to carry the bilateral relations forward in a constructive manner. The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh with whom he held several constructive meetings.
The Prime Minister directed Mr. Salman Bashir to work for the improvement of relations and also convey his personal regards and best wishes to the Indian Prime Minister and Madam Sonia Gandhi, President of Indian National Congress.
