Dana Rohrabacher, a US lawmaker who had tabled a bill espousing right of self determination for Balochistan, has dubbed Dr Shakil Afridi America’s her. He said that nobody would work for the country if Dr Afridi was not freed, US media reported on Thursday.
He told an American channel that the US should squeeze Islamabad to free Dr Afridi, adding that Pakistan’s anti-US face has been exposed by the conviction of the US agent.
“It will be deemed as cowardice if US fails to free Dr Afridi,” he said and added that Pakistan’s aid should be stooped if it didn’t free him.
Dr Shakil Afridi’s sentencing has further strained relations between Pakistan and the United States – the two counter-terrorism allies who are already embroiled in a dispute over the blockade of Nato supply routes by Islamabad.
