Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa said on Wednesday that Iran and Pakistan had exemplary relations and the people of two countries were bound together in centuries-old ties of brotherhood.
He was talking to a 10-member high-level Iranian delegation at the Governor’s house here on Wednesday.
Governor of Fars Province, Engineer Hossein Sadegh Abidi led the delegation.
Khosa said: “Iran has an unique honour of being the first country to recognise Pakistan”. He said there were cultural and religious familiarities between the two countries. The barter trade will benefit both the countries and increase their volume of trade.
Khosa said Iran could benefit from Pakistan’s expertise in the fields of agriculture, cotton, surgical equipment and sports.
He said Pakistan and Iran should further expand their economic relations to benefit from the available opportunities as it would be in the interest of both the countries.
He said that the Pakistanis are loving people and believe in maintaining brotherly relations, particularly with Iran.
The Fars governor observed that Pak-Iran ties were beyond political or economical gains as they were tied with strong bond of people-to-people links. He said the Iranis are proud of their relationship with Pakistan.
“The Iranis should visit Pakistan to know how loving and dear the Pakistanis are” the Fars governor added.
He said by sharing experiences the two countries could improve their capacities significantly.
“The Irani government wants to import rice, sugar, fruit, and spices at large scale from Pakistan” he added.
The Fars governor concluded that Pakistan and Iran should further expand their economic relations to benefit from the available opportunities.
