Icarusinc launches ‘Mud House and the Golden Doll’

‘Mud House and the Golden Doll’ was screened at the Pakistan National Council of Arts, while the media company chosen for this event was Icarus Incorporated the only international PR firm currently operating in Pakistan. For far too long the film industry of Pakistan has been dominated by a few individuals churning out predictable films plagued by overacting. However the premiere of Islamabad’s first feature film has already started creating waves amongst philanthropists. Based on the Iranian style of filmmaking it dares to challenge convention and features a plot based on true events. Unlike traditional documentary type films, ‘Mud House and the Golden Doll’ gently touches upon taboo topics that are sadly far too common in everyday Pakistan.
The film revolves around the life of a dumb homeless man (known as a malang) and a young girl; their budding relationship and the neurosis of society. The film’s director, who incidentally also plays the homeless man, is Hamza Abassi, a veteran theatre actor and first time filmmaker. The role of the young girl’s mother is played by Fauziah Mehmood, Marketing Manager at the Saif Group. Tajwar Raza plays the role of Sonya (the young village girl) and TV actress, Mehwish Hayat Khan, will be seen playing the grown up Sonya. The movie screening was held specifically for the media and the audience was left in awe at the realism of the movie. The commercial launch of the movie is expected in the next one month at 3d cinemas in Pakistan.
