Interior Minister Rehman Malik has reiterated that he does not have British citizenship. Addressing a ceremony of the UK Pakistan Chamber of Commerce in London, Malik said even though he was not a British national, he would take all possible steps for Pakistanis settled overseas, adding that a special cell would be formed for them. He said there was a discrepancy in the law regarding dual citizenship and he would move court against it. Talking about the country’s situation, the interior minister said security and investment went hand in hand and “we are doing everything to provide investors a secure environment”. Malik said the role of the overseas Pakistanis in development of Pakistan could not be negated. He said Taliban were being provided weapons by anti-state elements. “We have broken the backbone of terrorists and now only a handful remains… we are continuing action against them.”
