Chief Minister of the Punjab, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of delay in launching air conditioned transport service for women commuters in Rawalpindi.
Meanwhile, Deputy Coordination Officer, Rawalpindi, Saqib Zafar has directed Secretary RTA to convince the transporters to start the CNG bus service meant especially for women travelers.
According to details, the CNG buses with air conditioners were to run on route from Rawal Town to Gojar Khan, however, the plan could not be materialized as the administration and transport company could not agree on the amount of fare.
Administration is of the opinion that the fare should be set at Rupees 40, while owners of the transport company demand that the bus-fare should lie in the range between 100 Rupees and 120 Rupees.
It is pertinent to mention, buses without air conditioners running from Rawalpindi to Gojar Khan are charging 80 Rupees as fare.
