On the directive of Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, compensation cheques from PAF’s own non-public funds were disbursed today to the heirs of Rashakae (Mardan) air crash, which took place near PAF Academy Risalpur a few days ago.
Air Vice Marshal Syed Hasan Raza, Air Officer Commanding, PAF Academy Risalpur, handed over the cheques of Rs 425,000 to Zafar and Rs 350,000 to Niaz against the house and household damages of their respective houses.
The damage assessment was carried by PAF’s damage assessment committee.
The Pakistan government pays ex-gratia compensation to the victims of air crash/accidents from its public funds after the finalisation of formal board of inquiry.
As the board of inquiry will take some time for completion, taking into account the losses of the air crash victims, the air chief ordered payment of 50% compensation immediately from PAF’s own non-public funds. Rest of the amount will be disbursed to the affected people as soon as the government approves funds after finalisation of the board of inquiry.
The PAF also paid Rs 10,000 each to eight persons who received minor injuries. They were treated free of cost at PAF Hospital Risalpur and CMH Nowshera.
