Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has reiterated his claim that he does not have British citizenship.
Addressing a ceremony of the UK Pakistan Chamber of Commerce in London, he said even though he is not a British national, he would take all possible steps for Pakistanis settled overseas, adding that a special cell would be constituted for them.
He said that there is discrepancy in the law regarding dual citizenship and he would move court against this law.
Talking about the country’s situation, the Interior Minister said that security and investment go hand in hand and we are doing everything to provide investors a secure environment. He said the role of overseas Pakistanis in development of Pakistan can’t be negated and they have a major part to play.
He said that Taliban are being provided arms by anti state elements. He further said that we have broken the back bone of terrorists and now only a handful remain and we are continuing action against them.
Earlier, Malik met his British counterpart Theresa May to discuss mutual interest issues including elimination of terrorism, human trafficking, eradication of narcotics and visa issues of Pakistanis settled abroad.
However the British Home Ministry has declined to give out any statement regarding Rehman Malik’s British nationality and said that the ministry does not discuss the case of any individual.
No need to be shy -all of you politicians have some sort of dual nationalities-when the going gets tough the "toughs" go to USA Dubai or UK -right Malik?-just like Zardari did-remember
