Martin Dempsey, Obama’s top military adviser, said that Senate has made the right decision by voting to cut aid to Pakistan.
The United State Senate Appropriations Committee voted to cut $33 million in aid to Pakistan, one million for each year of prison sentence to Dr Shakil Afridi who helped CIA kill Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad.
Talking to NBC news in an interview, he said that the choices should results in consequences and the Senate action was appropriate.
He showed disappointment over deteriorating relations with Pakistan but also showed willingness to work through noting that Pakistan was strategically important globally as well as in the region.
The Senate Appropriations committee has approved $800 million to Pakistan for year 2013 which is far below from what Obama administration is seeking.
