Scores of militants stormed Mulazai police station and Frontier Constabulary Fort with sophisticated weapons leading to exchange of fire between the attackers and police but no loss of life was reported, official sources said on Monday. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed the responsibility for the attack.
According to police, dozens of militants attacked Mulazi police station, 40 kilometers north of Tank, in the night between Sunday and Monday. Tank District Police Officer Ejaz Abed told reporters that the militants, armed with sophisticated weapons, came on motorcycles at around 2am, adding that they were around 90 to 100 in number. The DPO said the attack was fully responded by the police and FC personnel forcing the attackers to flee. In another incident, two police personnel were injured when two IED blasts went off in Dolat Kot Korona area of Mulazai on Monday. The injured police constables identified as Muhammad Fayaz and Sameeullah were rushed to District Headquarters Hospital Tank. Soon after the incident, security forces and police cordoned off the entire area and initiated a joint search operation but no arrest was reported during search of militants. TTP spokesman Ihsanullah Ihsan contacted local journalists and claimed responsibility for the attack. Ihsan said the TTP would continue its war against the government of Pakistan until shariah was completely implemented in the entire country. According to police sources, security had been beefed up on all the police stations of the district after the attack.
