Power shortfall back to 6,000MW

The electricity shortfall has reached 6,000MW which has led to an increase in unannounced loadshedding.
According to Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) electricity generation is 10,814MW while demand is 16,814MW. Despite the shortfall, Karachi Electric Supply Company is being supplied 690MW.
The spokesman for PEPCO claims that electricity generation has decreased due to the low quantity of furnace oil.
Meanwhile, the hours of loadshedding have increased in several areas of Pakistan. In Lahore and other major cities, residents are without electricity for up to 14 hours a day while power outages in rural areas reached up to 20 hours.
PROTESTS: People staged a protest demonstration against frequent power outages at Murghi Khana, Bedian Road, on Sunday. The protesters mostly women and children who were carrying banners blocked the main road and chanted slogans against unscheduled loadshedding. They said abrupt power suspension had damaged to their electric appliances. They urged authorities concerned to make appropriate arrangements for uninterrupted supply of electricity to them.

  1. I believe protest should be held next to parliment, and president house. People of Pakistan must punish this government in up coming elections. I hope people of Pakistan has learned a bitter lesson by electing this corrupt government, convicted PM, and corrupt president. I pray for my country, and countrymen everyday. In 5 years this so called democratic government has done nothing good.

  2. Pakistan needs long term and self reliant power plan. Thar Coal Project and Kalabagh Dam should not be politicised and should be worked out with honesty

  4. Build some other dam if kala Bagh is not acceptable to a major percentage of people. Stop crying after it. There are other alternatives.
