LPG an effective alternative to CNG: Dr Asim

Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr Asim Hussain has said that Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is an alternative source of Compress Natural Gas (CNG).
Talking to PTV, the minister said “we can overcome shortage of gas in the country through promoting LPG”. He said it was not feasible to run everything on gas, adding the gas supply from Qadir Pur, Sui field will halt by 2020.
He pointed out that establishment of Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) terminals have approved by ECC, adding that establishment of these terminals will start in 6-8 months. Replying to a question about Pak-Iran gas pipe line, he said that project of gas pipe line to commence soon.
Dr Asim said the project of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) had signed and it would helped to overcome the energy crisis in the country. “People should cooperate with government for the reduction of energy crisis, he said. He added that government taking the several measures for saving energy in the country.
Fumigation campaign
continues in Rawal Town: Out of total 46 Union Councils of Rawal Town, 38 UCs have been covered under the current fumigation campaign against dengue while remaining eight UCs are being sprayed and the campaign will be completed till May 31 said Executive District Officer, (EDO) Health Dr Zafar Iqbal Gondal.
He said besides the spray and fogging activity, larvacide activity is also continuing and so far a large number of breeding sites have been covered under larvaciding activity in Rawalpindi district. He further said that all out efforts are also being made in this regard for public awareness in the light of the instructions of the government. He said the current phase of anti-dengue spray in Rawal Town would be completed till May 31 as so far nine Union Councils (UCs) of the city after covering all 29 sensitive UCs have been sprayed under the special anti-dengue campaign.
Out of 46 union councils of Rawal Town, 29 declared sensitive from where 358 dengue patients were admitted in various city hospitals, were focused and fumigation in these UCs was completed. He urged the citizens to come forward and play their role for the elimination of the disease.
He appealed the masses to cooperate with health department against dengue. The city government is taking concrete steps to control the virus while concerted efforts of all stakeholders including citizens are needed to eliminate the dengue, he added.
Venus to come in front of Sun on June 6: After June 8, 2004, another transit of Venus (movement of the plant, venus, in front of sun) would occur at early morning of June 6.
The rare transit could be observed from the time of sunrise till 9:50 am (PST), an official of the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) informed APP.
SUPARCO would also monitor the event, he added. This would be the last event of the 21st century as the next event of this kind would occur after 105 years, in December 2117. The citizens have been cautioned by Suparco not to look at the sun without wearing proper eye-shielding material as a solar filter during the transit of Venus. Otherwise, such a practice may yield to permanent blindness.
Weather to remain hot and dry: The Meteorological Department (MET) has predicted hot and dry weather for the next 4-5 days in northern parts of the country.
According to private news channel, a severe hot wave will hit the northern parts of the country from Monday and the mercury is likely to climb up to 50 degree centigrade.
The heat wave will grip northern Punjab, upper Sindh and eastern Balochistan on Tuesday and temperature will reach up to 50 degree centigrade.
According to Met Office the severe heat wave will persist for the next 4-5 days.

  1. I seriously don't understand what Dr.Asim is upto, LPG is a solution what's wrong with him doesn't he studied in primary school or what always come up with stupid statements. When international oil prices are low why hasn't he lowered here? fuel would be cheaper than CNG. the actual fuel price in Pakistan should be Rs.80 after taxes but unfortunately its 103 since people like him are the ministers.
