The core committees of Pakistan Medical Association Sindh and Sindh Doctors Action Committee (SDAC) have urged the government to ensure immediate implementation of the notification for posting orders of doctors, issued in March this year.
If the posting orders are not issued till May 31, the benefits of promotion to the doctors, promoted from BPS 18 to BPS 19, on basis of the recommendation of a promotion board, that sat in October 2011, will be lost, they said.
In their joint meeting, held at Civil Hospital, Karachi, the core committee members of PMA – Sindh and SDAC expressing grave concern over the delay in posting orders of doctors, said these promotions are being done after a delay of 19 to 20 years.
These doctors who were promoted to BPS 18 in 1993 have reached the age of retirement and during last 19 -20 years they have settled in the city of posting, their children are going to universities, they have established their clinics and their families are settled.
The core committee members of the two professional bodies of doctors registered their concern that these doctors were being pulled out of their settled places in the name of domicile and been thrown to other towns. This is again against service rules, that enshrines that during last few years of service the public servant, including doctors, will not be moved from his or her place.
The PMA- Sindh and SDAC office bearers said since postings were not done due to inadequacies of previous governments therefore concerned doctors must not be made to pay for their inadequacies. They also referred to another alleged injustice as according to them 62 doctors have got posting letters due to references of their MPAs and other resourceful sections, not on basis of their seniority or competence.
The poor doctor without “Sifarish” is waiting for posting and been thrown out of his settled life of 20 years, said PMA Sindh and SDAC officials. The meeting was attended among othrs by Dr Samrina Hashmi, President, PMA – Sindh, Dr Hadi Buksh Jatoi, Secretary, PMA Sindh, Dr Mujtaba Memon, Convenor of SDAC and Dr. Nawaz Mullah, general Secretary of SDAC. The participants of the meeting vowed not to tolerate any injustice to the doctors’ community.
