Wali Babar’s murderer killed in Sea View encounter

Accused Liaquat succumbed at Civil Hospital to injuries incurred in an alleged police encounter near Sea View area of the metropolis. According to police sources, the accused was involved in various heinous activities including the murder of a local journalist Wali Babar. According to SHO Darakhsan Shafiq Tanoli, the accused Liaquat, his accessory Rashid and a policeman were injured in the exchange of fire. The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital, where Liaquat passed away.Police said Liaquat was wanted in numerous crimes including murder of Wali Khan Babar, a reporter of a local news channel, adding a motorcycle and firearms were recovered from the possession of the criminals. Meantime, 50-year-old Saleem, who was injured in a hand grenade attack on a restaurant located on Jamshed Road of the city, succumbed to injuries. The deceased worked at the café for last 15 years. Also, Bilal, the son of the café’s owner and an employee Sikander were injured in the attack. Both are in critical condition. Jamshed Quarters police registered the case of bomb attack under anti-terrorism clause. Meantime, at least three miscreants have been arrested during a targeted operation of the Rangers in Lines Areas. Firearms including three Kalashnikovs, repeaters and bullets in heavy quantity were recovered from the custody of the saboteurs.
