As Pakistan continues to demand an end to US drone attacks, at least four people were killed in yet another strike in Miranshah early Saturday morning, raising the death toll to 18 during the last four days. Officials in Miranshah, the headquarters of the North Waziristan Agency, said the unmanned aircraft fired two missiles at a bakery in the main bazaar, killing four people present in one of its rooms. The bakery was completely destroyed, and three people died on the spot. The fourth one succumbed to injuries at a hospital.
The identity of attack victims could not be ascertained, but local authorities suspected that they were foreign militants. Soon after the attack, militants from the surrounding areas rushed to the site and shifted the dead bodies to undisclosed place.
During the last four days, at least 18 people have been killed in three US drone attacks. Two of these attacks took place in the urban part of Miranshah, while another targeted a mosque in Hassokhel village near Mirali town.
