Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani on Saturday ruled out the possibility of a long march by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) against the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)-led government, saying that the opposition party had lost its chance of a long march against former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf during his regime.
The PML-N had announced to stage a long march to overthrow Gilani’s government after his conviction by the Supreme Court for wilfully flouting court orders on writing letter to Swiss authorities for reopening corruption cases against President Asif Ali Zardari.
While addressing a public gathering at Jassar-Shakargarh near Narowal, Gilani said the time was not ripe for any long march. He said the PML-N was fond of long marches but there was no time or chance of any long march against the PPP government. He said the PML-N had lost the chance of fulfilling its political will of staging a long march against Musharraf. “Now it is useless for the PML-N to cry over spilt milk,” Gilani said. He said the PML-N was playing untimely political tunes to deceive the masses by making lame political excuses.
He said the PPP was promoting the politics of reconciliation, besides strengthening durable and real democracy in the country. He said the PPP would never allow anyone to derail democracy in Pakistan. The chances of any long or short march by the PML-N now, and even in the future, have been eliminated by the PPP, he added. “They were negating the mandate of the masses and the dignity of the country’s president and prime minister, and now even the National Assembly speaker’s by not accepting them,” he added.

  1. Blah blah blah..you and your party are no better..tell me..what progress has Pakistan made, what have you done for your country?? Oh ya sorry I forgot..Pakistan is has basically come to to total standstill, close to total economic collapse..you must be really proud of your achievement..the US really must have paid you a lot of money..that you would sell your country like this and completely forget the responsibility you have towards your country coming from a different direction..although it is to late for it..Take down from your bookshelf the copy of your family history, it lineage and remind yourself what it means to be a Syed Gilani

  2. There is just not much difference between PML(N) or the present PPP. Both of these parties are supporting each other in the cover up of massive massive corruption of their leadership.
