Target killings claim two more lives

At least two persons were killed and several others injured as target killing and violence continued in different areas of the city on Friday. According to police, unknown armed men gunned down one person identified as Abdul Shakoor 25, in Bilal Colony area of Korangi, Industrial area police station jurisdiction. The deceased was vegetable vendor. In Sharfabad area, New Town police station jurisdiction armed assailants shot dead Faisal, 24.
An office bearer of Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party, identified as Shahid Hangoru, 30, was injured upon resistance during a robbery incident in Aagra Taj Colony. The injured was shifted to Civil Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile firing incidents continued in different areas of Karachi resultantly injuring eight persons of whom condition of some was reported to be serious.
PPP leader escapes armed attack: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) district president Arbab Wazir Ahmed Memon was miraculously escaped when some armed men opened fire at his car when he was going to his native town Dharo Thursday night. The car was damaged due to firing.
According to information received here a gang of robbers was looting passing vehicles when Arbab Wazir Ahmed passed from there. The driver managed to speed away but the fierce firing damaged the car however both him and Arbab Wazir remained unhurt. However, the robbers stopped the car of PPP Taluka Mirpurbathoro Anwar Soomro and looted cash, cell phones and other valuables from him. Later the unknown outlaws managed to escape from the scene.
Police arrest 35 accused during last 24 hours: The Karachi police in their drive against criminals, arrested 35 accused from various parts of the metropolis during the past 24 hours. A police statement on Friday said that those arrested included absconders and proclaimed offenders. It said that four gangs of criminals were busted during the period and three encounters with the police also took place. The police recovered 27 pistols and one Kalashnikov from the possession of the arrested accused. The police have registered cases against the accused and started investigations.
