A man was killed and at least ten others were injured in a hand grenade attack on a restaurant located on Jamshed Road area of the metropolis in the wee hours of Saturday, police said.
According to details, some unidentified miscreants riding motorbike flung a hand grenade at a restaurant located at Jamshed Road hurting 11 people present there. The saboteurs soon afterwards fled the scene.
The injured were immediately shifted to nearby Civil Hospital but, a man succumbed to his injuries there.
The blast was so powerful that it made holes in the shutter and the walls of the shop. Before long, police arrived on the spot and started garnering the clues from site of the mishap.
Condemning the incident in strong words, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain demanded the government to instantly arrest the culprits involved in the attack.
Altaf asserted the shops are being attacked with gunfire and hand grenades on resistance against the extortion, saying, “The shopkeepers did not pay the extortion money that is why they are being assaulted.”
The administration should rein in these bhatta mafia, he added.
