Former president Pervez Musharraf on Friday rejected Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s allegations that he had murdered Benazir Bhutto. Musharraf said Benazir’s killers were present in the government but the Pakistan People’s Party was not serious in catching them. He said the federal and Punjab governments were corrupt. Talking to a private TV channel, the former president said Rehman Malik fled from the scene soon after Benazir’s murder.
Musharraf also visited Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi at a hospital here. Sources said that during the visit, Musharraf stayed with Pervaiz Elahi, Shujaat Hussain and Moonis Elahi for more than an hour. The former president wished him an early recovery. According to a private TV channel, Musharraf complained that he had given full powers to the Chaudhry brothers during his regime, but when difficult times came, they changed sides. Shujaat tried to satisfy the former president’s grievances.
