Another abducted BRSP employee killed as ransom couldn’t be arranged

Activists of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan executed another employee of the Balochistan Rural Support Programme after keeping him six months in captivity.
Six employees of the BRSP were kidnapped in Barshore area of Pishin district on December 13, 2011 and were later shifted to Waziristan. The captors have been contacting the family members of the captives and demanding ransom from their organisation.
The kidnapped BRSP employees were Bashir Ahmed, Abdul Ghafoor, Mujeebur Rehman, Nematullah, Dawood Shah and Maqbool Ahmad, all low pay scale employees.
The kidnappers killed Maqbool Ahmed on March 20 after not receiving the ransom and warned that if they were not paid the ransom amount, the other five would also be killed.
The kidnappers on Friday executed another BRSP employee, Abdul Ghafoor, and threw his body in border area of Zhob and Waziristan. Ghafoor was resident of Pishin.
When contacted, Zhob Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Karim said the civil administration of Wana had informed them that they had found the body and wanted to hand it over to them. He said later a group of levies force was sent to receive the body.
BRSP officials said the kidnappers called the family and told them that Ghafoor had been killed.
The BRSP claimed that the kidnappers had been demanding Rs 250 million as ransom for the release of the five employees.
The relatives of the kidnapped BRSP employees had also set up a camp and started a campaign to collect donations to collect the ransom amount. However, according to the relatives, the amount was very high and could not be collected without the help of the government.
The BRSP has already terminated around 110 employees after the abduction of its staff members.
