The Consul General of Italy in Karachi, Roberto Franceschinis, hosted a reception at a local hotel on Thursday evening to mark the 66th anniversary of the proclamation of the Italian Republic.
It was also attended among others by the Speaker of the Sindh Assembly, Nisar Ahmed Khuro. Speaking on the occasion, the Italian Consul General appreciated the Pakistani people who have deep sentiments for Italy and strive to promote better relations between the two countries.
He also thanked the Italian ambassador to Pakistan, Vincenzo Prati, for visiting Karachi and be a part of the celebrations. He said there is a special bond between Italy and Pakistan and efforts are needed to be made to enhance these relations further. Ambassador Vincenzo Prati, who is to leave at the end of his tenure, said that he would keep coming to Pakistan. He said he was leaving Pakistan with a lot of great memories and a large circle of friends spread all over Pakistan. The chief guest at the reception, Sindh Assembly Speaker, Nisar Khahro, said Italy was a great friend of Pakistan and the Pakistani people wish them well. He suggested that more is needed to be done to bring both countries even closer. The reception began with the playing of the national anthems of the two countries.
