Three armed motorcyclists looted 200-tola gold ornaments from a jewellery shop in broad daylight at the Soha Bazaar, Rang Mahal, on Friday. The police said the robbers entered a shop owned by a jeweller named Shoaib. They held the shopkeepers at gunpoint and looted gold ornaments worth millions of rupees and fled. After the incident, the traders of the market closed their shops, burnt tyres on the road and staged a protest against the robbery. They demanded the police take notice of the incident and arrest the accused. The police have registered a case against unknown people and started an investigation.
Robber killed in fire
exchange: One robber was killed while his accomplice managed to flee during an exchange of fire with the police early Friday morning. According to details, a police patrol party signaled two robbers to stop at the Wheatman Road in Mughalpura, as they were fleeing after snatching a motorcycle from a resident of Harbanspura. The robbers then started firing at the police and tried to flee. During the retaliatory fire, one robber, identified as Muddasar, was killed on the spot while his companion managed to escape from the scene.
