Information and Broadcasting Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira said on Thursday that rumours that prime minister was considering to tender resignation were baseless.
Talking to journalist after addressing at a workshop at International Islamic University, the minister said there was no truth in the resignation rumours as they were part of disinformation campaign. He said Pakistan Peoples’ Party leadership would avail legal options.
To a question, Kaira said when Nawaz Sharif government was toppled in 1999; serious charges of corruption were raised against him.
About Nawaz Sharif’s allegation that the government has done record borrowing during past years, Kaira said in Pakistan there is a law of fiscal responsibility and as per that law, the government cannot borrow more than 60 per cent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
