OGDCL sacks 4 fake degree holders

The oil and gas development company, a subsidiary organisation of petroleum and natural resource, has fired four senior officials for presenting fake degrees at the time of their hiring, it has been learnt.
A source in OGDCL on Thursday told Pakistan Today that the four officers were served warning notice time and given to prove their educational credential, but they didn’t turn up and according to authority’s finding their degrees turned to be fake. The source said the degrees of OGDCL employees were under scrutiny in the line of prime minister’s directive for verifying all government employees’ degrees. He said termination letters of the fake degree-holders had been served to them.
The source said those whose degrees turned to be fake are included Khalid Mahmood (protocol officer), Nisar Mahmood (Director Procurement), Sajid Khan, (System Analyst) and Bashir Ahmed a technician.
The source said that degree verification committee also raised objections on other 198 officers and their degrees were being closely scrutinised.
It is relevant to note here that last year Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani directed authority concerned to verify degrees of all government officials. Initially, the prime minister had set a two month deadline starting from February 5, 2011, for the verification of educational degrees. However, despite the passage of more than once year the process is not yet completed.
Despite repeated attempts, OGDCL spokesman Khalid Mahmood could not be approached for his comment as he didn’t receive calls made by this correspondent.
