Corruption root cause of inflation, load shedding: CM

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said corruption is the root cause of the price-hikes, load shedding, poverty and unemployment in the country.
Talking to the assembly members of various districts on Thursday, he stated that the rulers’ drive to accumulate wealth by plundering national resources had caused irreparable loss to the national economy.
He added that the problems faced by the poor have increased tremendously during the last four years.
The CM said the corruption of ‘Ali Baba and the 40 thieves’ had caused so much loss to the Railways, PIA, WAPDA, Steel Mills and other national institutions that they are unable to provide any service to the masses.
He said it was necessary to get rid of the rulers in Islamabad who are corrupt and inefficient and have no respect for the judiciary, to save the country from the existing crises.
Sharif added that if given an opportunity to serve the people, the policies and projects introduced under the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, will change the destiny of the people and usher in an era of prosperity in the country.
Shahbaz Sharif said loot and plunder were rampant in the name of development projects while nepotism was promoted and merit was flouted in the dictatorial era.
He stated that the government institutions had been destroyed through the recruitment of inefficient people on the basis of their political contatcs.
He added that the corrupt mafia, with the help of the rulers of Islamabad, is once again engaged in looting national resources and that the decisions taken by the judiciary are also being trampled.
He said it will be devastating for the country if its rulers attach no importance to the law or constitution. The CM added that the elements had been exposed and that their accountability was very near.
The Chief Minister stated that the politics of Pakistan Muslim League-N aimed at bringing the poor and oppressed masses into the national mainstream.
He added that the Punjab government has diverted national resources towards the provision of basic amenities to the deprived and unprivileged segments of the society.
