59 Union Councils of Peshawar declared sensitive for danger of floods

Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa government has declared fifty nine union councils of Peshawar as sensitive areas which could face the threat of floods in the coming monsoon season.
Sources said that a security plan has been prepared to save the sensitive areas from flood devastation. The KPK government has issued instructions to the district administrations to remove illegal encroachments from the embankments of rivers, canals and natural water streams.
DCO Peshawar Siraj Ahmad told media on Friday that there was danger of floods during June, July and August due to rains and to prevent losses, a plan has been devised. He said orders have been issued for placement of one lakh sand bags to serve as protective bunds alaong the river banks in the suburban areas of Peshawar.
