At least four suspected militants were killed and several others were injured when a US drone missile hit a compound inside Miranshah city, headquarter of North Waziristan, on Wednesday morning.
The official said that the suspects had established a compound in an abandoned house at Miranshah. Two missiles hit the compound and damaged its several portions. Soon after the missile attack, other militants shifted the dead bodies and the injured to an undisclosed place.
The identity of the drone attack victims could not be ascertained. However, local tribesmen said that they included foreigners.
Pakistan’s parliament recently adopted a resolution against drone strikes, but Wednesday’s incident marks the third such attack in North Waziristan. The parliament demands an end to drone attacks, while the US considers such strikes an effective strategy in the ongoing war. Pakistan calls such attacks detrimental to its sovereignty.
