Unidentified miscreants ambushed a Parachinar-bound passenger van near the Ahmad Sheikh area of Lower Kurram, injuring several travellers, including women and children. Sources said the van was coming from Peshawar, and came under heavy fire in the lawless tribal belt. The injured were taken to hospital for treatment, while the miscreants escaped from the area. Three of the passengers were said to be in critical condition. The passengers belonged to the Tori Bangash tribe. Later, the tribesmen complained that the tragedy took place despite the presence of security forces in the area. They said that the security forces had not responded to the attack, and acted like spectators. The tribesmen alleged that the Taliban and the security forces deployed in the area were in collision, and were jointly involved in the killing of Tori Bangash tribesmen. It is pertinent to be mentioned here that since the opening of the Tall-Parachinar Road after Murree Agreement, it was the 20th incident of terror attack but the government has not yet imposed any fine on any tribe for failure to follow the rules of the agreement. No group has claimed responsibility of the attack.
