When Justin Bieber finished high school earlier this month, the pop star didn’t get to participate in a traditional graduation ceremony like most teens. So, Ellen DeGeneres took it upon herself to fix that – surprising him with a faux commencement ceremony on her show. On ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’, Bieber put on a cap and gown and sat by as DeGeneres stood at an ‘Ellen Academy’ podium. “We’re here to honour the accomplishments of the Biebs.
A great American who happens to be from Canada,” DeGeneres joked in her graduation speech. “Justin, you’ve finally made it. You’re graduating and I’m so proud of you, because I’ve always said there ain’t nothing more better than an education.” She also gave the 18-year-old star some words of advice, along with a wardrobe suggestion. “So now that you’re graduating, you’re gonna have to be able to survive on your own,” DeGeneres continued. “You’re going to need a strong character, a good business sense and you’re gonna need suspenders – honestly, your pants have to be pulled up at some point.”
After Ellen’s long speech, which saw Justin losing focus and staring into the distance, Justin stepped up and asked to say a few words. With his cap balanced above his head (which they all want you to think is for comedy value, even though Justin blatantly refused to wear one any other way), Justin did his own little speech. He said: “I’d like to thank my sponsors. BF Goodrich Tires, Little Debbie Snackcakes, Drakkar Noir.”
