The Maya Tree Council at the Beaconhouse National University Department of Liberal Arts in collaboration with the Char Gram and the BNU Music Societies will host Lahore’s literati, poetry buffs and performing arts fans at the Rux-e-Bismil on Saturday.
Rux-e-Bismil will showcase some of the most talented performers within BNU’s own student body at the Alhamra Cultural Complex. The event will open with an extraordinary dance performance choreographed and performed by Char Gram, which will set the mood for performance poetry set to music. Once the poets have had their say, prose will naturally take the audience through the night but with the insertion of some theatrical twists that are sure to be in a league of their own. Not only this, in honour of Manto’s centenary, Rux-e-Bismil will offer Lahore a chance to view Manto’s ‘Intezaar’ in a style that has never been witnessed before, while remaining true to the essence of the original. The BNU Music Society will conclude with a concert, covering some of the most renowned songs along with some of their original pieces.
Rux-e-Bismil is an event that hopes to bring together the masses by putting together an event which celebrates basic human emotions, desires, hopes and fears; things which everybody can relate to and thus, empathise with.
