Bilawal envisions parliament with 50 percent women

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari says that he dreams of a Pakistani parliament that will have 50 percent women. According to zeenews, Bilawal said, “It is my dream that in my lifetime, the Pakistani parliament will be composed of 50 percent women and the cabinet will have 50 percent women.” Bilawal attended a discussion hosted by the United States Institute of Peace in Washington where he highlighted the role of women in Pakistan. He quoted his mother Benazir Bhutto as always saying people resented her because “I am young, I am a Bhutto and I am a woman”. Bilawal said, “The same people resent me because I am young, I am a Bhutto and I am proud to say I am a feminist.” “I am proud of the PPP government for passing the most legislations in favour of women than all the governments in the past. I am proud we made history with first female prime minister of Islamic world, first female foreign minister of Pakistan (Hina Rabbani Khar) and first female National Assembly speaker of Pakistan (Fehmida Mirza),” he added.
