The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) took out a rally on Tuesday, led by Punjab President and State Interior Minister Imtiaz Safdar Warraich, to express solidarity with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani.
The participants of the rally which later left for Sahiwal were raising slogans ‘Jeay Bhutto’. Speaking on the occasion, Imtiaz Safdar Warraich said that people of the Punjab had reposed confidence in the PPP by taking part in the rally in a large number.
He said President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani were democratically elected and those who were criticising them were trying to derail democracy in the country.
Replying to a question about the Turkish prime minister’s address to the joint session of the parliament, Warraich said that Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Ch Nisar Ahmed Khan in his speech had tried to say the nation was divided into two sections.
The state minister said Ch Nisar, being the opposition leader had the right to criticise the government but at that time he should have welcomed the guest instead of painting a negative image of the country.
