Delegation of blind people calls on KMC administrator

KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed has said that people deprived of vision deserves our special attention. These people might not have the vision but they do have insight.
He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of blind people led by Anwer Masih which called on him in his office. Senior Director Culture and Sports Rehan Khan, Director Culture Khursheed Shah, Staff Officer to Administrator Karachi and other officers were also present on this occasion.
Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed said eye diseases and visual impairment has reached to alarming proportion in Pakistan. Countless people lose their vision for not getting timely treatment.
He said modern and computerised medical treatment of eye diseases was available now in Pakistan and we should therefore take special care of our eyes. Glaucoma and Cataract treatment was now available and in some cases vision could be restored with the cornea transplantation.
Administrator Karachi said that suffering with Retinitis Pigmentosa means permanent loss of vision for an individual there fore such people must consult with the doctor. According to a study three in every thousand people suffers this ailment.
He directed the concerned KMC officers to ensure strict implementation of job quota for blind people. The administrator also appealed to the private sector to provide jobs to blind people so that they could earn livelihood for their family. Afterwards the blind people and their families were provided with the opportunity to visit Hawkesbay seaside and they were also presented with the gift of white sticks.
