Commissioner of Karachi, Roshan Ali Shaikh has directed the deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners of the city to initiate a well chalked out campaign against encroachments hampering traffic flow in the metropolis. Sources associated with Karachi commissioner office on Wednesday said the commissioner in a meeting with officials concerned with administrative affairs of the city took strong exception to almost a mushroom growth of makeshift stalls around the major thoroughfares. “These make shift stalls doing wide range of businesses are also registered to be assuming a permanent status and also encroaching upon the wide roads meant for smooth flow of vehicular traffic,” the commissioner was quoted to have said. Roshan Ali Shaikh particularly referred to instances where even furniture shops were also running businees on thoroughfares besides those dealing with common household items.
