With the routine little fights between PPP’s Senior Minister for Education and Literacy Pir Mazharul Haq and PML-F’s MPA Syed Marvi Rashdi in the Sindh Assembly’s session, the education minister has come up in a strong reaction against coalition partners (Pakistan Muslim League-Functional) by moving a motion against Marvi.
In almost every session of the Sindh Assembly, Pir Mazharul Haq, who is senior minister from the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) could be seen exchanging hot words with female MPA belong to coalition partners – PML-Functional – on difference of opinion.
Interestingly, in recent past Sindh Minister for Information Shazia Marri also exchanged hot words with MPA Marvi Rashdi in ladies style, each pointing out to the way of dressing and make-ups, etc. But this time MPA Marvi Rashdi might have crossed all the limits, according to PPP MPAs, as she pointed out to the appointment of education minister’s wife as Additional Secretary (Academic) in his husband’s department.
Being much angry on Marvi’s remarks, Senior Minister for Education and Literacy Pir Mazharul Haq under Rule 58, 58-A of the Rules of Procedure of Provincial Assembly of Sindh has moved a Privilege Motion against PML-F lady MPA Syed Marvi Rashidi.
“That on 27th April, 2012 Syeda Marvi Rashdi on a point of order before this August House has leveled false allegations against me and my wife alleging falsely that my wife has been promoted recently illegally and on favoritism and posted as an Additional Secretary (Academic), Education Department”, according to a motion moved by Pir Mazharul Haq.
“It is informed to this August House that my wife was appointed in the year 1976 and was selected by Sindh Public Service Commission in the year 1978 as Lecturer in Chemistry in BS-17 and she was promoted on her turn in accordance with the service rules as Assistant Professor (BPS-18) in the year 1993 and finally she was promoted by Provincial Selection Board in the year 2008 in BPS-19 as Associate Professor”, it adds.
“Presently, she has been posted as Additional Secretary (Academic) in the Education Department and prior to her posting there, a number of Associate Professors were posted against the said post and I can produce a number of precedents in this respect. The false allegations of Syed Marvi Rashdi has tarnished my and my family’s image in the public throughout the country which has adversely affected me in performance of my duties as a Member of this August House and enjoyment of my right and privilege admissible to me under the law”, Pir Mazhar’s motion concluded, a copy of which available with the Pakistan Today.
The motion was taken up by the Sindh Assembly’s Privilege Committee on Monday that met under the chairmanship of MPA Mujadid Isran. The mover of the motion, Pir Mazharul Haq, was present in the meeting however MPA Syed Marvi Rashdi did not turn up, compelling the chairman to defer the meeting till May 29, 2012.
