The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has permitted the distribution companies to boost the power tarrif as much as Rs 2.38 per unit to recuperate the price of fuel for Feb- March 2012.
NEPRA officials said the authority approved Rs0.59 rise for February 2012 and Rs1.79 per unit for March 2012, increasing overall Rs2.38/unit against the two months under fuel adjustment. Officials said that these charges would be received in the electricity bills of September and October after final approval from the ministry of water and power.
Officials said that consumers using 50 units and KESC would be exempted from these fuel adjustment charges. They said that authority would collect Rs 26 billion from the fuel adjustment charges of February and March 2012.
In this regard a notification would be issued soon by the ministry and these fuel adjustment charges would be added into the electricity bills.
