CS seeks report on progress against illegal hydrants

Chief Secretary Sindh, Raja Muhammad Abbas, has called a report from Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) on the progress of action against illegal hydrants. A statement here on Monday said that he was presiding over a meeting to receive the water problems mainly caused due to water theft through illegal hydrants in the city. The Chief Secretary also emphasized upon provision of clean drinking water throughout the province showing concern over the apprehension of contaminated water which caused diseases. Raja Muhammad Abbas also advised the Secretary Power Sindh to forward the report of supplying electricity to KWSB with a view to ensure sufficient water storage by controlling power supply interruption. He also asked Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Home and Inspector General Police Sindh for coordination with KWSB and other respective departments in connection with the eradication of illegal hydrants. Earlier, the Managing Director of KWSB informed the meeting that 38 hydrants have been removed in the recent drive while further work is in progress.
