Ch Nisar fails to appear before Sindh Assembly’s committee

As the senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan did not turn up for his point of view, despite prior notice, before the Privilege Committee of the Sindh Assembly, he is given another chance to appear in person again on May 29, 2012.
PML-N’s Chaudhry Nisar was supposed to be personally available and clear his position against the motion moved by PPP MPA Imran Zafar Leghari with the Rules of Procedure and Privileges Committee of the Sindh Assembly.
The committee that met on May 14, 2012 forwarded two separate call letters, seeking physical presence of PML-N leader to explain and clear the allegation leveled against him. However, no response was received by the committee within a week time. And hence the committee of the Sindh Assembly again met under the chairmanship of MPA Mujadid Isran.
The mover of the motion MPA Imran Leghari, Senior Minister for Education and Literacy Pir Mazharul Haq and Law Minister Ayaz Soomro attended the meeting held in the committee room of the Assembly on Monday.
“I do hereby give notice under rule 58, and 59, of the rules of procedure of provincial assembly of Sindh to move this privilege motion. I being, the public representative/member of the provincial assembly of Sindh do hereby move a privilege motion that Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has used derogatory remarks for the honorable members of the Sindh Assembly during a press conference on March 13, 2011 while further criticizing the cultural attire of the people of Sindh reflecting his degrading and bitter attitude, Mr. Chaudhry has greatly hurt the sentiments of the people of Sindh”, according to a motion moved by MPA Imran Zafar Leghari.
Talking to Pakistan Today, Imran Leghari said alleged Chaudhry Nisar had used derogatory remarks against the elected MPAs and MNAs of the Sindh province while addressing a news conference on March 13, 2011. The letters were forwarded to Chaudhry Nisar through Secretary National Assembly and directly through courier service to clear his stance against what he had said.
Moreover, Imran said he would bring a resolution in the Sindh Assembly against Chaudhry Nisar if he (Chaudhry Nisar) fails to ensure his presence before the Privilege Committee on May 29, 2012. Earlier, the meeting also took up four other motions moved by different MPAs of the Sindh Assembly, however only Pir Mazharul Haq, Senior Minister for Education, the mover of the a motion was present however the other members of the committee belonging to ruling PPP and MQM remained absent.
Isran said Chaudhry Nisar had passed derogatory remarks against the Sindh Assembly members. He was called today (May 14, 2012) to clear his position however he did not turn up. A letter was sent to him through Secretary NA and another directly at his residence through a courier, he said. “Chaudhry Nisar was given an opportunity to express his position. However, he missed it with no earlier intimation. And, again the Privilege committee provides him with another chance to appear before the committee on May 29, 2012”, he added.
While talking to newsmen, Sindh Law Minister Ayaz Soomro said Chaudhry Nisar had used harsh language against the Sindh Topi and the centuries old culture of the province. “And, if Chaudhry Nisar fails to appear before the Sindh Assembly’s committee on Privilege, the orders would be issued for his arrest”, Soomro added.
