Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) will set up more recreational spots across the province to facilitate and attract more tourists.
Sources said that TDCP was working to prepare feasibility reports to set up seven more resorts at different places such as Darabi Lake, Chakwal, Nankana Sahib, Ganda Singh border, Soon Sakesar Valley, Floating Restaurant at Sahiwal’s Kinan Park and at Fort Monroe chairlift.
Feasibility reports will be completed during the current fiscal year and after approval of a TDCP board of governors meeting, PC-I of all projects would be forwarded to the Planning and Development Department for approval, sources added. Tourism is one of the largest industries in the world and is considered the economic backbone of many countries. It is anticipated to exceed all other industries in revenue and employment generation by year 2020.
The corporation is also aimed at establishing tourist information centres to provide information and develop existing and new tourist destinations in the province. During the last few years, the corporation has taken steps for the promotion of tourism in the province like a Cholistan jeep rally and some other events including Lahore marching band festival and vintage car show.
The corporation has 14 resorts at various tourism sites including Murree, Kallar Kahar, Fort Monroe, Chiniot and others like chairlift and cable car sky resort at Patriata to provide recreation to people.
