Pakistan routed India 4-1 in the final of the three-nation Touch Ball Tournament here on Monday at Punjab Stadium to clinch the title.
The home team dominated the match and enjoyed all time supremacy as the Indian side made sporadic moves to counter the might of their opponents. Pakistan’s scorers were Shahbaz who moved twice while Aslam and Khurrum shared one score each while Anand Kumar was the lone scorer of the Indian side.
Later Deputy Speaker Rana Mashood, who was the chief guest, distributed the prizes among the winners and other participants. Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar, international touch ball federation official Dennis Coffey and head of Indian and Afghanistan teams and Senior Vice President, Pakistan Touch Ball Federation Rai Altaf Hussain and Secretary PTBF Zahoor Ahmad were also present on the occasion.
Later in the evening Sports Board Punjab held a reception in honour of the visiting Afghanistan and Indian teams who participated in the four-day touch ball. The evening was also followed by a musical function for the entertainment of the guest teams.
Speaking on the occasion Rana Mashood, praised the spirit of the participating teams and also praised the organizers for inviting foreign team to Pakistan. He also thanked the Indian and Afghanistan teams and also highlighted the Punjab government’s efforts on the uplift of sports in the province and plans of holding the youth sports festival.
