JI chief warns of blocking NATO supply at all costs

Jamaat-e-Islami chief Munawar Hassan has announced protesting and halting the restoration of NATO supplies at every cost, urging the masses to stand up and take to streets to halt NATO supplies, calling it a matter of national integrity and solemnity.
Hassan stated this while addressing a large youth convention in Sialkot on Sunday. The convention was aimed at motivating the youth of the country to play their role in the politics of the country. He said the restoration of NATO supplies would be an insult to parliament and the nation.
Hassan said the government had succumbed to US pressure and decided to restore NATO supplies without Washington yielding to Islamabad’s demands for an apology on Salala attack and stopping drone attacks. He questioned the worth of the government’s claim about the supremacy of parliament when its unanimously adopted resolutions were being given little weight by the US. He said the government itself was by-passing the parliament to please Washington. “The rulers are trampling upon Supreme Court’s decisions and parliament’s resolutions and pushing the country into chaos and the country’s solidarity and independence is at risk under the ruling junta,” he said.
The JI chief said the armed forces should not open fire on the people blocking NATO supplies, otherwise there would be a strong public reaction.
Hassan added the PPP government had pushed the country into a dark cave of chaos, inflation and poverty.
“Due to imprudent policies of the government, the masses are suffering price hike, worst gas and electricity load shedding, lawlessness and unemployment. On the other hand, the convicted prime minister and his cabinet are enjoying aimless foreign tours and a lavish life at the cost of hard-earned public wealth,” he said. He condemned the government’s policies, saying the rulers were least bothered about mitigating the sufferings of the masses.
“The corrupt rulers are unable to solve public problems as they are busy in looting the national exchequer. I ask the people to stand up against the corrupt rulers as there have been unable to overcome the crises,” Hassan said.
