IPL spoiling cricket, fans losing trust in game: Amir Sohail

Former Pakistani cricketer Amir Sohail on on Saturday said that the controversial Indian Premier League (IPL) is spoiling cricket and the fans are losing trust in cricket. Talking to Pakistan Television (PTV), he said that all the stakeholders, including the International Cricket Council (ICC) should work seriously to eliminate the spot fixing menace from cricket.
He urged the ICC to play its role and strictly monitor the fixing in IPL. The anti-corruption unit of ICC has failed to eradicate the corruption in running cricket league in India, the former cricketer said.
Amir Sohail said that all renowned players from all over the world were playing in the IPL and their career could be effected by the continuous fixing scandals. He said cricket fans were losing trust by assuming that every ball in cricket matches had been already fixed, which may effect the cricket’s importance in the world.
He said the bookies should be controlled and strict action should be taken against them. Amir said the ICC should also its anti-corruption unit to task on its failure in stopping illegal activities in the IPL.
