Six persons including four proclaimed offenders and two policemen were killed in exchange of fire here on Sunday.
According to details, on a tip off regarding presence of proclaimed offenders, a team of Chauntra police station conducted raid in Miyal area near Chakri Interchange of Rawalpindi.
The culprits seeing the police started firing which led to the fight.
In cross firing four proclaimed offenders were killed while two cops including SI Ghulam Akbar and Husnain were martyred and two others injured.
The bodies and injured were moved to hospital for medico legal requirements.
Police said that the outlaws killed in the fire exchange were wanted by various police stations of the city in many incidents of robberies and other crimes.
Policeman who sacrificed their lives must be recognized as national heroes. Their burial cermony should be given coverage on the electronic media as it is done for the army martyrs along with same level of compensation to the aggrieved families.
