Seven injured in Khairpur load shedding protests

Seven people, including women and children, were injured in a baton charge by police on people protesting prolonged load shedding and shortage of drinking water in Khairpur on Friday. Per details, people in Khairpur have been suffering from load shedding and acute shortage of drinking water for the last four days and scores of the residents of Mohalla Osta Gahi took to the roads to protest against the government, blocking the old national highway at Panjhatti. The protesters chanted slogans against the authorities for load shedding and not providing drinking water. Khairpur Police reached the scene and tried to talk the protesters out of protest but failed. Later police baton charged the protesters, injuring seven people. In Kohat, the 132 KV Kohat Grid Station was damaged as fire broke out in the premises, damaging a power transformer.
