Top 64 players play in Chromatex Masters Table Tennis

Altogether 64 men and women players will be displaying their talent in the Chromatex Masters Table Tennis League that is commencing here on Friday at the Chromatex Hall. “Country’s top most 32 men and similar number of women players representing various departments and provinces will be taking part in the 3-day event”, said former national player and organising secretary of the competition, Abdul Qayyum Khan said in a press statement on Thursday. He said players from Wapda, PWD, Chromatex Chemicals, NHA, HBL, Railways, Army, HEC, Punjab, KPK, Sindh,Islamabad and Fata and Balochistan have reached here to compete in men’s singles and ladies singles. “Former national champions Asim Qureshi,Bilal Yasin and other renowned players Kashif Razzak, Yasir Bhatti are the added attraction of the event and their participation will supplement our efforts for the cause of table tennis in the country”, said the organising secretary. Chromatex will be led by former international Ahmad Hussain Khan and its other members are Asim Aziz and Mehboob Elahi and Fareed Malik. He said the competition to be played on league and play off system will ensure that good number of matches will be available to each participating player. “The winner of mens singles and ladies singles will receive cash prize of Rs 25,000 each while the runner up will be getting Rs 10,000. Similarly cash prizes will also be given to the semi finalist of each event”, he added. Qayyum said the event will be an ideal opportunity for the Pakistan national junior team to get much needed practice ahead of its participation in Junior South Asian Table Tennis Championship being played from June 17 to 19 in India. The final of the league will be played on May 20.
