PML-N President Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said his recent visits to Sindh and the response of the province’s public had rung alarming bells for the rulers. Denying money-laundering cases against him, Nawaz said it was nothing but vindictive moves of the failed rulers.
He lamented that the government paid no heed to parliamentary recommendations and always threw them into the dustbin.
About US policies, he said Washington was ready to offer an apology over the Salala attack in February but the government asked it to do that at an “appropriate time”. He said reopening of the NATO supply routes would be a matter of great disgrace for the entire nation, adding that the rulers were happy to attend the Chicago conference.
To a query he said, “I am amazed as well as ashamed at the statements made by the prime minister. He does not know how to talk over a wide range of issues,” he said.
Nawaz said he had no personal grudge against Yousaf Raza Gilani but they would force the government for the rule of law and implementation of the Supreme Court’s orders.
He declared all options including a long march would be utilised against the rulers. “The situation is heading towards the politics of 80s and 90s,” he warned.
He said the appointment of an impartial chief election commissioner was a prerequisite for free and fair elections and all political parties should show concern on the matter.
Nawaz also blamed the government for all economic woes and energy crises in the country, saying it had failed to provide any relief to the public in the last four years.
