At least two policemen were killed and two others injured when unknown gunmen opened fire at a police patrol van at the eastern bypass here on Thursday.
According to details, unidentified armed assailants ambushed the police patrol van when it was on routine patrol.
Two police cops were killed in the firing and two sustained injuries. The injured were rushed to hospital for treatment.
The attackers managed to escape from the scene after the incident.
A case has been registered against unknown miscreants and search for them is underway.
