Surveillance beefed up at high security Punjab jails

The surveillance of high security barracks across Punjab jails has been beefed up due to the pertaining security threats.
The revelation was made by Provincial Jails Minister Malik Iqbal Chanter while chairing a high level meeting. The meeting was attended by Punjab Jails IG Mian Farooq and all the DIGs.
It was told in the meeting that after the Bannu Jail attack and in view of the contacts that dangerous jailed criminals maintain with terrorists, the surveillance of high security barracks has been increased. It was told that security cameras and jammers have been activated and that they would work 24 hours a day.
IG jails told the meeting that the food of prisoners is checked before it is given out and their visitors are monitored. He said the prisoners involved in terrorism are tried in the jail courts.
He further stated that the jail staff is being equipped with the latest weapons and the boundary walls of sensitive jails are being raised and earth wires erected on them
He said the jail staff would face strict action if any mobile phones were recovered from prisoners.
