Retired employees offer support to PIA

PIA Retired Employees Association (PlAREA)’s President Syed Tahir Hasan had a meeting with PIA Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Air Chief Marshal (retd) Rao Qamar Suleman.
The PIAREA president congratulated the Managing Director on his assumption of the command of the Airline and shown his concern over the deteriorating condition of the National Flag Carrier. He assured the Managing Director for up-lift of the situation and extended his colleagues whole-hearted skilled and administrative volunteering support.
He appreciated the management’s decision to form PIA Foundation to benefit the serving and retired employees and their families as well as the Airline. The President also appreciated the good-will gesture of the Managing Director for an offer of honorary services to the National Airlines – PIA.
President, PIAREA informed the Managing Director about the problems being faced by the retired employees and their families. The demand for immediate increase in Pension primarily at the rate of increase awarded to serving employees in 2011 was stressed beside the anomaly in Pension of different trades in PIA was to be sorted out later-on. He also suggested rate of Pension similar to Government employees. The Managing Director was requested to formulate a high-powered committee which should have representation from PIA Retired Employees Association (PIAREA) to sort out this issue. The PIAREA Chief also handed over a brief about PIAREA and some of the problems which need immediate redress.
The Managing Director was kind enough to listen to the problems and showed his sympathy. He also informed about the problems being faced by the National Carrier today and shown his resolve to improve the conditions especially in the field of punctuality of ?ights beside no compromise on safety and technical issues. He also showed clear vision for improving the credibility of the National Flag Carrier. He also narrated some of the efforts made by him for improvement of retired employees’ conditions in his past assignments. Syed Tahir Hasan appreciated the gesture of good-will shown by the Managing Director.
