The paramedical staff working in the government hospitals held a token strike on Tuesday, in the Outdoor Patient Departments (OPDs) of the government hospitals in favour of their demands.
The paramedics of the government hospitals in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and other cities of the province staged a protest demonstration to press for an increase in their salaries, incentives in service structure and health allowance.
The protesting paramedics said they play a key role in providing healthcare to the citizens but whenever the service structure of doctors was prepared or reviewed, they were ignored. They stated that in the current era of inflation, it was not possible for them to feed their families and that the provincial government should take steps to fulfill their demands.
The protestors also expressed their dissatisfaction over the attitude of the Punjab government and health authorities for not giving importance to the problems faced by the paramedical staff and warned that they would hold province-wide strikes if their demands were not looked into.
